Michael (Minky) Mooney
Michael Mooney has exhibited nationally and internationally and is in major collections of art dealers/collectors such as J.D. Newhouse and Ruth Siegel, NYC. He lived & exhibited in 80s in NYC and was represented at E.M.Donahue Gallery and later in the 90s by Jan Weiss Gallery and Donahue. His paintings and drawings span from the Art Student's League in the late 60s to present day works in 2007. Irina Akimova
Irina Akimova was born in Russia. She graduated from the Moscow State University, department of Mathematics and Theoretical Mechanics. Then she worked as a math teacher in the Technological University "Stankin" in Moscow. Though Irina always enjoyed drawing and painting, for long time it was just a hobby for her.
Irina's family arrived to the U.S. in the summer of 2001 and settled in Blacksburg, south-western Virginia. Being raised on the Volga plains and having lived in the megapolis of Moscow, Irina suddenly found herself in a totally different place -- the mountains of the Blue Ridge, and she loved it. Here Irina started painting more and more -- partly as a way to live through the cultural shock of moving to a new country, leaving behind her parents, friends, job, etc. In 2003 she joined the local artist association. Since then she has participated in several group exhibitions, held two solo shows, and was accepted to several juried shows. Irina finds her inspiration in the atmosphere of Blacksburg, in its architecture, and in the views of the surrounding mountains. In the summer of 2006 the family moved to the city of Salem, which is just in half-an-hour drive from the Blacksburg. Located in the valley, this new place gives a new perspective on the spectacular mountains around.
In May 2006, Irina received an M.S. degree in Mathematics from Virginia Tech (Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University).
When not doing art (which is rare), Irina takes care of her husband and two sons, sometimes plays piano or guitar. She also likes knitting and croucheting.

Mike Alfano
Michael Alfano has been sculpting figures, monuments, and philosophical pieces for ten years. After graduating with a degree in business, his original career was as a stockbroker. Soon dissatisfied, he turned to sculpting, in part as a way to transform the pain he experienced after his college girlfriend was killed by a drunk driver.
He first studied at the Art Students League of New York with an emphasis on life size sculpture and anatomy. His formal education continued at Boston University, and was augmented by internships with several prominent sculptors.
Michael exhibits his work at galleries and other public venues, and he is a regular entrant in art shows, where he has garnered dozens of awards. His public monuments are on permanent display throughout the Northeast. Many newspapers and magazines, have featured Michael's work and his story.

I am 40 something ( grin) with a teenage boy who is attention deficit and (bunch of other things) so we were fortunate enough to get hooked up with an art therapist for him. he wasn't very interested however. So she started working with me. I had never painted nor ever wanted to. I actually refused but she just kept insisting it would help me with depression and stress. I just started putting the paint on the paper and moving it around - and that I liked - it was relaxing. when my son was at his worst, I just got out the paints and started in. I have a disability with my arm and can't do regular work - so this was a way to help with the family income. So it will be only 2 years in March that I have been painting. I have had no formal art education. And I think I am happy not to know the "rules" because then I am free to do anything that enters my head - there is no "right" and "wrong". So that is all there is. I do believe also that my talent (if you can call it that) is straight from Him and try to glorify Him in all that I paint)...... RAISA KOROTCHENKO is a contemporary established ukrainian professional artist from Crimea (Ukraine). She was born in Potsdarm (Germany) in 1956. She studied in The Aivazovsky Art School in Feodosia. After graduating Aivazovsky Art School and since 1976 she has lived and worked in Simferopol city ,capital of Crimea (peninsula in the Black Sea). MY STUFF:
The pieces in my store are hand made form natural crystals, agates and other gems and minerals found in West Texas and a few from around the world. Some are in their pure state and some are carefully tumble-polished. These precious stones are exquisitely combined with gold filled, polished brass and sterling silver wire. The simplicity of each piece makes these one of kind treasures, rare additions to anyone’s collection.
WHERE:
I live in Gods country, the Panhandle of Texas. They say this is where the West begins but I see no need to go further. Although this area doesn’t have the history of the Ancients it is drenched in tradition and mystical nuance. I’m not a cowboy but I do believe they are the Original American Heroes. I am more closely in tune with the Native American Indian but I can’t claim that heritage either. I’m just glad I’m here!

The first time I used transparent watercolor, I started seeing the world through watercolor. When I see light reflecting off a piece of fruit or through spring, summer, or fall leaves, I see layers of watercolor, fit together to create the image.
We all see the world through our own unique combination of experiences. I have been fortunate to live in a rural environment in one of the most beautiful areas of the world. Through my paintings, I attempt to capture and share the beauty I sense (see, hear, smell, and feel) from those surroundings.
When I see something that strikes me emotionally, whether it be with color, light, contrast, shape, or a feeling of elation, joy, peace or isolation, I attempt to explain it with watercolor. Art allows us to communicate to cultures of the future and gives us emotional ties with the past. While words can be misconstrued, it is hard to create bias with a brush stroke.
Transparent Watercolor...
Transparent watercolor is ground up pigment that when mixed with generous amounts of water will appear as a thin transparent wash of color that allows the passing of light through glazes of paint to reflect off the paper’s surface. As additional washes are applied, a visual compound of color develops, as the underlying color(s) interacts and adds to the upper layers. In a transparent watercolor, the only white spaces will be those areas of the paper that remain unpainted. Consequently, white areas in this type of painting must be carefully planned for and protected against unintentional coloring.
Because each pigment, by each manufacturer, has its own characteristics and properties, when pigments are applied, mixed, or layered, the results vary depending on those properties; the sequence in which they are applied; and the amount of water used, or not used. As a result, you could paint your whole life and never fully control it. I believe the unexpected results help mimic the chaos of nature and it’s surprises and create exciting challenges that keep life exciting!
